FCC, Winterset "Walks" to Jerusalem
With a kick-off on Dec. 31, 2017, First Christian Church of Winterset began a journey together. Their goal was to “walk” to Jerusalem by Easter. Church members were challenged each week to track their physical and spiritual activity and turn them in to the church to be logged. The activities they submitted included attending church, reading the Bible, or physical activity. Every 15 minutes spent was equal to a mile and participants submitted their own records through the weekly offering or via email or phone.
Every week, the church offered a new distance goal and provided devotions and travelogues about their next “stop” on the journey. Co-pastor Sue Blader noted that “we’re doing an awful lot of sight-seeing.” Youth contributed to the mileage as well with their weekly activities.
